Fly

Photography, Poetry

The heron and the gull, lifting
like winter leaves, don’t fly
alone,
a thousand breathes, carry
them heavenward,
asking
nothing but the intimacy
of spectral fingers,
twined
with questing feathers, reaching
for the each invisible, questing
hand.
